Just starting out and finding the terms confusing, then here are just some of the many terms you may come across.

Ace Point: A players 1 pt.

Acey Deucey: Another version of Backgammon, where on a roll of 1 and 2 you choose any set of doubles and roll again.

Anchor : Having two or more checkers on a point in the opponent's inner board.

Akward Number: A roll that cannot be played helpfully and worsens your position.

Back Mar (Back Runner): A checker in the opponent's inner board.

Backgammon: When one player has won while the opponent still has a checker in the winner's homeboard or on the bar.

Bar (Rail, Roof): The partition separating the inner and outer tables.

Bearroff: The period of the game where the players are taking off checkers.

Blind Hit : Hitting your opponent in the outfield when coming in from the bar.

Blot: An exposed single checker on a point.

Carry : To move a checker.

Centered Cube: When the cube is unused to double and stays in the center

Contact : To hit or be hit.
